3x Soldered USB-C female vertical connector breakout
Pack of three vertical USB-C sockets on 22 × 22 mm boards, with all USB 2.0 lines on a breadboard-friendly 8-pin header.
The USB-C Female Vertical Connector Breakout brings every USB 2.0 line of a USB-C socket out to a row of 2.54 mm header pins. The socket stands upright, so the cable plugs in from above instead of from the side. You get three boards in the pack.
The eight pins are GND, VUSB, CC1, CC2, D+, D-, SBU1 and SBU2. VUSB is the 5 V line from the cable, and D+ and D- carry the USB 2.0 data. CC1 and CC2 are the configuration lines a USB-C power source checks before it turns the 5 V on. SBU1 and SBU2 are sideband lines that some USB-C modes use.
There is nothing between the socket and the pins, so you decide what the board does. Solder the header to the bottom and it drops into a breadboard with the socket facing up. Two 3.2 mm holes let you screw it to a panel or an enclosure.
Note:
- The board has no resistors on CC1 and CC2. To get 5 V from a USB-C charger or a USB-C to USB-C cable, connect a 5.1 kΩ resistor from each CC pin to GND. A USB-A to USB-C cable supplies 5 V without them.
- The header pins come unsoldered.
